• 1. Basics

• What is a photo mosaic?

  A photo mosaic combines hundreds or even thousands of memories to create one large picture.

  From a distance, you see the main image. As you move closer, more and more of the individual photos become visible. Many small memories come together to form one complete picture. This two-level effect is what makes a photo mosaic so special.

• How is a photo mosaic created?

  A photo mosaic is created from one main image and many small photos of your memories.

  First, you choose the subject that you would like to appear as the large image. We then use your uploaded photos to create an individual photo mosaic. Every photo mosaic is unique.

• Why do photo mosaics make such special gifts?

  A photo mosaic brings many shared memories together in one picture.

  At first, the recipient sees the large main image. When they look more closely, they discover all the small photos and remember the moments you shared. Every photo tells a story.

  Tip: A photo mosaic has the greatest impact when the recipient explores it together with family or friends.

• How clearly can I see the small photos?

  A photo mosaic shows two levels of imagery at the same time.

  From a normal viewing distance, the large main image stands out. The closer you move towards the photo mosaic, the more clearly you can see the individual photos, which are approximately 2.5 cm wide. Moving closer changes what you see.

• Are all my photos used in the photo mosaic?

  As a rule, we use all the photos you upload.

  Depending on the size of the photo mosaic and the number of pictures supplied, individual photos may appear more than once. This is completely normal. Many customers enjoy discovering the same memories in different places, almost like a small memory game.

  Tip: The more different photos you upload, the more varied your photo mosaic will be.

• 2. Photos & upload

• How many photos do I need for a photo mosaic?

  Most photo mosaics are created from around 100 photos. The more pictures you upload, the more varied and personal your photo mosaic will be.

  Our system can process both small and large photo collections containing up to 1,000 photos. There is no minimum number. What matters is not the number of photos, but the memories you would like to see in your finished mosaic.

  Tip: Start by uploading all the photos that matter to you. You can add more pictures at any time and request another free preview.

• Which photo works best as the main image?

  Choose a picture in which the people or subject you want to feature can be seen clearly. Simple, well-defined subjects usually produce the best result.

  The main image forms the large subject of your photo mosaic. As it is built from many small individual pictures, clear outlines create an especially harmonious result. Very small details, on the other hand, may be difficult to recognise later.

  Tip: Choose a photo that you would also like as a conventional piece of wall art. It will usually work particularly well as the main image of a photo mosaic too.

• Which pictures work well as the small mosaic photos?

  You can generally use any of your photos. The more varied your selection, the more lively your photo mosaic will look.

  Together, the small photos form the background of your main image. They do not need to have the same style or similar colours. The mixture of different memories is part of the appeal.

  Tip: Choose your photos for the memories they preserve rather than simply for their technical quality or subject.

• Do my photos need to have a high resolution?

  Digital photos taken with smartphones and digital cameras are generally suitable for a photo mosaic.

  The resolution of modern cameras is more than sufficient for a photo mosaic. Only photographs that are already blurred may appear less clear.

  Tip: Simply use the original photos from your smartphone or camera. There is normally no need to reduce their size or edit them first.

• Which file formats are supported?

  You can upload your photos directly from your smartphone or digital camera.

  Our system supports all common image formats, including JPG, JPEG and PNG. No preparation is required.

  Tip: Simply upload your original photos. In most cases, there is no need to edit or resize them beforehand.

• Can I replace or add photos after uploading them?

  Yes. You can add more photos or replace pictures you have already uploaded at any time. Changes are always free of charge.

  Until you place your order, you can change your main image and individual photos whenever you wish, then request a new preview. You only decide whether to order afterwards.

  Tip: If you find more suitable photos after uploading your first selection, you can add them at any time.

• 3. Preview & quality

• How long does it take to create my photo mosaic preview?

  We normally create your free photo mosaic preview in less than 24 hours.

  Once you have uploaded your photos, we design your photo mosaic and provide a free preview. You will be notified automatically as soon as your photo mosaic is ready.

  Tip: When your preview is ready, you can view it online straight away and decide at your leisure whether you would like to make changes or order your photo mosaic.

• Is creating my photo mosaic free?

  Yes. Creating your photo mosaic is free.

  We use your photos to create two different versions of your mosaic. You only pay if you place an order for one of the two versions as a print or digital file.

  Tip: Compare both versions at your leisure and then choose the one you like best.

• How can I assess my photo mosaic before ordering?

  You can view your photo mosaic in full resolution before placing your order.

  Our viewer lets you examine both the entire photo mosaic and the individual pictures. The zoom function allows you to zoom right into the small photos and gain a clear impression of the final print quality.

  Tip: View your photo mosaic both up close and from a little further away. This allows you to appreciate the small individual photos as well as the large main image.

• Can I make changes to the mosaic preview?

  Yes. Changes can be made at any time free of charge.

  Until you place your order, you can replace the main image, add more photos or exchange pictures you have already uploaded. You will then receive a new free preview of your updated photo mosaic.

  Tip: If you find more suitable photos after uploading your first selection, you can add them at any time.

• 4. Printing & delivery

• Will my photo mosaic arrive in time to give as a gift?

  The estimated delivery time for your printed photo mosaic is shown during the ordering process.

  If your gift is needed urgently, Priority Production may be available. This speeds up production of your order; the delivery time is added separately and depends on the shipping option selected.

  Tip: Check the estimated delivery date and the available production options before completing your order.

• Can I have my photo mosaic delivered to a different address?

  Yes. You can enter a different delivery address when placing your order.

  This means your photo mosaic can be sent directly to the address of your choice. No invoice is included in the parcel. Your invoice is sent only to you by email.

  Tip: Your delivery address can be different from your billing address.

• How is my photo mosaic packaged?

  Your photo mosaic is securely packaged and specially protected for transport.

  Depending on the material and size, we use sturdy boxes or postal tubes to help ensure your gift arrives safely. If anything should nevertheless happen in transit, we will of course find a quick solution.

  Tip: Keep your mosaic in its packaging until you are ready to present it. The packaging provides the best protection.

• Which finish is best for a gift?

  All our finishes make excellent gifts. The best choice depends on how you would like to present your photo mosaic.

  A poster arrives rolled and looks especially attractive when framed before it is presented. Canvas is already stretched over a wooden frame, so it can be given and hung straight away. Acrylic glass has an especially elegant appearance and is ideal for important occasions.

  Tip: A photo mosaic has the greatest impact when presented in front of others. If possible, give it together with family or friends.

• Which size is best for a gift?

  The size of your photo mosaic determines the impression your gift makes.

  Larger formats look especially impressive and make the presentation even more emotional. They also allow both the main image and the many small memories to stand out more clearly.

  Tip: If the photo mosaic is intended to be the highlight of the gift, many customers deliberately choose a larger format.

• Can I receive my photo mosaic as a digital file?

  Yes. You can purchase your photo mosaic as a high-resolution image file, either on its own or in addition to a printed version.

  The download is available immediately after purchase. You can print your photo mosaic yourself, have it produced by a local photo printing service or share it digitally with family and friends.

  Tip: If you need your gift at very short notice, the digital file is the quickest way to receive your photo mosaic.

• 5. Ordering & payment

• Can I see my photo mosaic before ordering it?

  Yes. You only decide whether to order after your photo mosaic has been created.

  We use your photos to create two versions of your photo mosaic. You can view and compare them at your leisure and zoom right into the individual pictures. Only then do you decide whether you would like to place an order.

• Which payment methods are available?

  You can pay for your photo mosaic using common payment methods.

  Options may include PayPal, credit card and bank transfer. The available payment methods depend on the country and are shown during the ordering process.

• How does the ordering process work?

  Ordering takes just a few steps.

  Once you have chosen your preferred mosaic preview, select the desired finish, such as poster, canvas or acrylic glass. Then enter your delivery and payment details and complete your order. Production of your photo mosaic begins immediately afterwards.

• When does printing of my photo mosaic begin?

  Printing begins immediately after you place your order.

  As soon as we receive your order, your photo mosaic is automatically sent to production. This allows production to begin without delay.

  Tip: Check your order carefully before completing it. Changes are no longer possible once production has started.

• 6. Data protection

• What happens to my photos?

  Your photos are used solely to create your photo mosaic.

  After you upload them, we use the pictures to create your photo mosaic and retain the image data for a limited period so that you can view, change or order your mosaic. Your photos are not used for any other purpose.

• How long are my photos stored?

  Your individual photos remain on our servers for 28 days.

  This gives you enough time to edit and order your photo mosaic. Ordered photo mosaics are stored for 90 days to make repeat orders possible. The image data is then deleted automatically.

• Can anyone else see my photos?

  No. Your photos are treated confidentially.

  Only members of staff involved in creating your photo mosaic or processing the order can see your photos. Your pictures are never published or passed on to third parties.

• Can I delete my photos early?

  Yes. When your photo mosaic is created, you receive access to your mosaic project. You can delete your photos there at any time.

  You remain in full control. Once you delete the photos, they will no longer be available for further changes or repeat orders.
